What happens when you combine the lovable Sesame Street Muppets with a visit to Israel to learn more about Jewish culture and the Hebrew language? You get Shalom Sesame! Shalom Sesame aims to provide diverse American Jewish families with the tools, information and opportunities to instill a strong sense of Jewish identity in their children.  Launched in 1985, the project has grown to include a new series of 12 half-hour DVDs, a website featuring a robust archive of interactive online content and outreach materials which include parent and teacher guides (http://www.shalomsesame.org), a vibrant social media community, and now, a mobile platform for smart phones and tablets.  Targeted to Jewish families with children ages 3 to 8, Shalom Sesame’s educational resources aim to build Jewish literacy and instill in children a vibrant and dynamic sense of Jewish identity; cultivate a greater understanding of Israel, and introduce audiences to Jewish holidays, traditions, symbols and values.
